What to Expect at Your First Chiropractic Visit

A walk-through of your complimentary consultation, assessment, and treatment plan.

Walking into a chiropractor's office for the first time can feel like a bit of a mystery, especially if you're not sure what actually happens beyond “getting your back cracked.” Here's the honest breakdown.

Your visit starts with a conversation, not an adjustment. A complimentary consultation gives you the chance to explain what's bothering you, how long it's been going on, and what you're hoping to get out of care. From there, an individualized assessment looks at your spinal alignment and how it may be connected to your symptoms.

Only after that does a treatment plan come together, and it's built around what your specific assessment shows, not a standard script every patient gets. Some people need a more intensive plan early on; others need something lighter. That's the point of doing the assessment first.

Bring a photo ID, your insurance card if you have one, and wear something comfortable to move in. Most of all, come ready to actually describe what you're feeling. The more specific you are, the more useful your first visit will be.
